Home and Main Pilgrimage in Honor of St. Anthony

On the feast day of St. Anthony of Padua, during the so-called Home Pilgrimage, the main celebrant was a priest from Slovakia, P. Blažej Čaputa, dean of Nové Mesto nad Váhom.

The main mass was celebrated by auxiliary bishop Mons. Zdenek Wasserbauer.
He was born in Nové Město na Moravě and spent his early years in a small village of Sázava on the borders of Bohemia and Moravia.
After studying at a high school, he went to study in Prague at the College of Agriculture. Here he became attached to the parish of St. Anthony of Padua in Prague 7 – Holešovice.

The church is somewhat connected to our pilgrimage site.
It is precisely that church where during his second escape from the seminary, young Antonín Šuránek on October 3, 1924 heard within himself the words: “This church is empty. And it should be full! And you are running away from the seminary?”
After a series of subsequent events that day, he returned to Olomouc and never doubted his priestly calling again.
