We will walk together to Javořina for the fourth year.
Javořina is somewhat symbolically connected with St. Antonín through Fr. Šuránek.
Indeed, like many places in Slovácko.

What happened decades ago?
During World War II, men and youths from the vicinity made a promise, prompted by Fr. Šuránek, that they would build a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary at the top of Javořina.

Out of respect and gratitude to women, as an act of forgiveness towards them, but also to deepen brotherhood between Moravians and Slovaks.
On July 27, 1947, a holy mass was celebrated at Javořina. Tragically, on the way back, Marie Málková from Nivnice lost her life.
In 1971, a shrine was built nearby in memory of this event.

Fr. Šuránek occasionally mentions the promise to build a chapel on Javořina in various preserved texts.
The following brief article was published in August 1947 in the journal Rozsévač.
(Rozsévač was the most widely distributed spiritual weekly published between 1939 – 1948. The communist regime later banned it.)

Promise to the Queen of Virgins

Daily, the highest mountain of the White Carpathians – Javořina – beckons us to fulfill our promise.
We made it with the men of the Slovácko region, gathered for adorations during the terrible war in the chapel of St. Antonín. We pondered how little joy there is in the life of a Slovácko girl, threatened from an early age by the brutality of sexual instinct.

And we asked the Virgin Mary to help in the struggles to free the girls from the slavery of undisciplined young men and men, to restore the moral purity, true freedom, and joy to the Slovácko region that once flowed from the hearts of girls through folk songs.

Today, many foreign hits serve to express the indescribable sadness that often hides behind embarrassing frivolity.
“My mouth smiles, but tears flow from my heart.”

And we promised the Queen of Virgins that we would strive to ensure that the region of Slovácko's Javořina is adorned with a temple that would unite brothers and sisters of Moravia with brothers and sisters of Slovakia.
And August 15 is our exclamation mark.
“Fulfill your promise!”
We will fulfill!
